"Do O-gah?"

I have no excuse for not being in excellent shape by the end of the summer. Van and I have started a new morning tradition of doing "o-gah" together. Each morning he wakes up asking: "Do O-gah Mommy?"

It starts out pretty well.

But usually by down-dog, Van spots an opportunity. . .

To "go through the carwash" and things can get a little complicated for me.

We took a family trip to Pullen Park earlier this week. If you have not been, you should go! Its so nice.

Lastly, the pool opens today! Van is starting golf lessons with Pop-Pop and swim lessons at the pool. I am starting tennis lessons too! Also-we gave Soph a bath at this neat place. I am so glad its summer! Happy Memorial Day!!

Our Trio

Evans is very much a part of our family, but when he goes out of town I try to stay busy and keep him posted on our trio's whereabouts with photos, so I thought I'd share some of those on the blog. For a little updating, Jeanie is holding her head up more and more each day, Diddy witnessed a rollover from back to front, and if you hold her under her armpits, she looks mighty determined to take off and follow Van. Her smiles and coos are infectious! She is sleeping 6 pm- 6 am with one (sometimes two) feedings in between. More consistent sleep has been a blessing for us all.

Van is our entertainer. He makes us laugh daily and surprises us often with some pretty creative sentences. When I left his bedroom the other evening, he said "Hey mom, could you cut my clock on for me, please?" (The clock is a sound machine that he goes to sleep with each night).  I thought that was an impressively eloquent request for a 2.5 year old! He is a people-pleaser with a gentle soul. I worry about how best to toughen him up to prepare him for preschool next year. I try to teach him to stand up for himself and he says "its okay mama, Van's okay." He has clearly inherited his daddy's patience and grace.

I am surprised daily to realize how much I am enjoying parenting two children. Some of the tasks I used to consider to be monotonous, have now become simultaneous opportunities to teach, entertain, and be productive.

Here are some recommendations (thanks Jenna and Mary-Kathryn!) we enjoyed this weekend:
-Dinner at Market
-Chocoalate from Escazu
-Travelin' Mayhem at 42nd Street!

- Music on the Porch -- Its family friendly!

-DIY Bubbles (via G-Mommy):
12 Cups of Water
3 Cups Dawn
1 Cup Karo Syrup

Have a great week!

Happy Mother's Day!

To our moms!
And any mom reading.
What a simultaneously fun and challenging role!

Jeanie slept 9 hours for her mommy's day present! Van and Daddy cooked a yummy breakfast (and cleaned up the kitchen!)

Cute bloomers from Auntie Suggs

We all headed to G-Mommy's for a delicious lunch. We think Jeanie resembles G-Mom the most!

Beautiful bouquet from Auntie Snags

Love you Evans, Jeanie, and Van!
Thank you for making my weekend so special!!

Happy 5th Year Anniversary!

FIVE is my favorite number. I have several reasons why, but most recently because 5/5 is our wedding date! It rained on our wedding day and everyone told us not to worry--rain would bring us good luck in marriage. I'd have to agree that it did.  Yesterday, on our 5th wedding anniversary it poured! We decided this means 5 more years of goodness :)

To celebrate we ate a fabulous dinner (and even more fabulous key lime pie) at Glenwood Grill, watched an old movie called "Waterloo Bridge," read through some old love letters, and looked through our wedding photos! If these don't bring a smile to your face. . .

Five years and two kids later. . .

Love you Evans! Happy 5 years!!
