Don't Worry "Bee" Happy!

Although I did attend a Bobby McFerrin concert in the fourth grade, the emphasis of this post regards our newly discovered cohabitants...HONEY BEES!

Yikes. I have learned more than I may ever need to know about them over the past few days. Let's just say there is a honey bee shortage in North Carolina and the bee keeper called us "lucky"...

I tried to capture the thousands of bees swarming Evans in this photo, but they did not show up in the light! Apparently when swarming, the bees are too full of honey to sting. We thought this was going to be a really neat-looking picture. What a let down! Sorry Evans.

Baby Jeanie has been sporting some rough congestion the past few days so we took her to the doctor, who basically prescribed a "don't worry, be happy" sort of attitude. She took his instructions to heart:
My final attempt at "bee-ing happy" . . .

Why was the man such a good doctor?

Because he had lots of "patience!"

Not a good joke? Sorry babes.

A Fun Weekend

Congrats to my good friend, Austin who was married this past weekend on a farm in Warrenton. It was one of the prettiest weddings I have ever attended and Evans and I had so much fun catching up with all of our college friends!! (Probably too much fun if there is such a thing :)

And these two angels kept us company all day Sunday!

Miss and love all you teenies!! Thanks for such a fun weekend!! :)

Coos, Cuddles, and Smiles!

And Van wishes you all a happy belated Earth Day!

Be grateful for our planet and live simply!

I will sing the Lord’s praise,
for he has been good to me.

 The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Two Months!

Maybe each parent feels this way, but lately I have been thinking how rewarding it is and how lucky I feel to have two children with million dollar smiles. I cannot get enough. I love to wake up (or perhaps already be awake?), get everyone fed, dressed and head outdoors. We have stayed incredibly busy over the past week (cousin visits, painters, landscapers, hosting a fun party!) but this pace of life is exactly where I want to be.

I also had quite the treat last week getting the opportunity to hear both of Auntie Snags's local readings. She did such a great job and I soaked up every minute of chat time we had together!!  Boy do we miss you all!!

Baby Jeannie is doing great. She is smiling, loves her brother, her owl toy (thanks Snags!) and her mom and dad! I love this stage-- she is growing more into her own sweet person each day.

Enjoy the pictures!!

Happy 2 months Jeans!!

(And happy 7 years ago first date to Evans!!  :)

The Easter Buddy

Happy Easter!

The "Easter Buddy" was good to my two chicks.

Van was thrilled by his new spiderman towel, and excited to eat "co-cos" for breakfast.

We cannot get enough of our fun family.
What a happy, loving Easter day!

Eight = Ours

Eight hours are ours!

At least for the past 3 nights... hopefully this is no fluke although I know it most likely is.

This is something to smile about!

(Keepin it real...I have a cold, I'd been up a few hours, and chased Van around all morning!)

In other news...we've been busy preparing for the Easter Bunny and excited to spend some QT with Auntie Snags, Uncle Bo, and cousins Fray and Zeph!!

Easter Egg dying attempt!

Can you spot the baby legs?

Last but not least, I wanted to share a few gifts that make me so excited each time I look at them. From Aunt Lisa...

Baby Jeans's night light. Van has a matching one and I love it! So sweet. She also refinished this antique crib, which I love! So dainty and perfect for Jeans's nursery:

From Aunt Mary Beth:

I hope you can read each of these! They are so sweet. I believe my favorites are:

"Teach Grace...Love them...Love them some more."

Happy week before Easter!

LUCKY DUCK!

Van's "lucky duck" shirt has a tag which reads "Do what you love, love what you do" and today I found myself confidently abiding by this motto. I never thought I'd feel so wonderful with a 5 week old infant and a 2 and a half year old tot.

Life is good.

AND with lucky duck on our side apparently, we won a free photo shoot with Laura Simson photography!

Van and Jean-Margaret are practicing their poses:

Contrary to what this blog depicts...Van DOES own and wear pants.
