"Mom, would it make you happy if I just stayed home with you forever?
...Because I can do that..." -Van
Of all the emotions I am feeling on Van's first day of school, I am mostly filled with pride. I am SO proud God chose me to be Van's mommy. I wish I could keep him and nurture him and let his spirit nurture me forever but I know he is ready to share his gifts and talents with his teachers and buddies. I pray that this year he learns, plays, and adjusts to his new school as easily as possible. We had a successful tear-free drop off, I told Evans "I am doing okay!!" ...took two steps...then burst into tears. Van is a wonderful role model for Jeanie and Abe. Such a special day, Van... I love you!!
I am so excited for Van, and for you. He looks thrilled to be going to school. I hope his teachers and his classmates enjoy him as much as we do. Kindergarten year is just amazing. He will learn so much, and just astonish you with the progress he will make.
ReplyDeleteFunny O story: he came home yesterday, and said (after talking about the new playground, and who he sat with, and what the rules were for the classroom) that his teacher told them a secret today. His earlier teachers had taught him something wrong! Instead of making a LINE to go to lunch, they really were making a LINE SEGMENT, because a line goes on forever, while a line segment has a starting point and an ending point. This was said with a giggle, and a warning that we weren't supposed to share the secret with anyone. I love how they learn!
